Clinical Trials Laboratory Services Celebrates the Opening of its New Blood Donor Centre in Glasgow

Glaswegians will be able to help develop new medicines by donating white blood cells at the centre

Glasgow, UK – October 4, 2022 – Clinical Trials Laboratory Services (CTLS) today announced that it is hosting an open house from 11 am to 2 pm on Tuesday, October 11 at its new blood donor centre in Glasgow. Visitors will learn more about CTLS’ white blood cell donation program and enjoy a complimentary lunch. This new facility is located on the ground floor of Fleming Pavilion on Todd Campus in the West of Scotland Science Park in Glasgow G20 0XA.

“We are asking volunteers to donate white blood cells, which are used to help fight disease and infection, to advance medical research. Volunteers at our London blood donor centre have already helped researchers investigate new therapies for a number of diseases. Their white blood cells are also a critical research tool for scientists developing immunotherapy treatments,” said Wini Luty, MS, Senior Director, Donor Center Operations.

CTLS greatly appreciates its donors and their contributions to medical research. All its donors have access to entertainment throughout the donation process and receive refreshments and compensation for their time and effort afterwards. As the human body can generate new white blood cells quite rapidly, volunteers are able to donate again in two to four weeks.

Visitors who schedule a screening to determine whether they are eligible to become a white blood cell donor will be entered to win a £250 e-gift card. Early donors at the new centre will also receive a CTLS T-shirt.

Anyone who would like to attend the CTLS open house can register at https://www.clintrialslab.com/grandopening.

Potential donors must be between 18 and 66 years of age, in good health, and be pre-screened to confirm that they are eligible to participate. They will be asked to provide demographic information, including their age, ethnicity, and gender, their smoking status, and details about any medications they are taking. Personal information will be kept confidential and will not accompany their donation.

CTLS has 27 years’ experience in this field. In 2021, it collected more than 3,200 blood and biofluid donations from volunteers at its donor centre in London. Those donations were used to support research at global life sciences companies.

Potential donors can obtain additional information or make an appointment on the CTLS website at www.clintrialslab.com or by calling +44 203 608 6260.
